In addition to its concert programme, the English Chamber Choir has a long-standing relationship with the parishes of St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe and St James Garlickhythe in the City and sings at several morning and evening services each year. These are concentrated particularly in the periods between Easter and the summer and in the month before Christmas. Less formal than the concerts, normally with smaller numbers of singers and with soloists from within the choir, the music provided for the services nevertheless offers a high standard of performance and a chance to hear a wide variety of sacred motets and settings of the mass in context. Both Churches have recently seen extensive improvements in terms of the organs, which has enabled the Choir to expand its repertoire to include many works, particularly from the 19th and 20th centuries, which would have been difficult to perform with the previous instruments. The repertoire of pieces sung at services in the last year has included Byrd Mass in 4 Parts, Howells Collegium Regale, Mozart Mass in C, Dvorak Mass in D, Haydn St Nicholas Mass, Elgar Ave Verum, Byrd Ave Verum, Stanford Justorum Animae, Tomkins When David Heard and the choir's "signature" piece, Tallis If Ye Love Me.
